2in1 Mould for Casting & Slumping

The design properties of this mould allow a multitude of options to create an elegant and decorative object or sculpture. The mould inside has fine but smooth details for easy colour placement (in casting) or to enhance the specific character of the subject. There are no under-cuttings to make sure the glass will easily separate from the mould after firing

For Slumping:
When creating your design for slumping, remember that the glass will be placed ‘face-down’, on the mould. as this will be the viewed side and the one to take the fine details of the mould. You can cut your glass to match the shape of the fish or all the way to the edge of the mould and cut the rim off after the slumping. Some coldworking facility may be required to clean up the edges.

For Casting:
The options this mould offers are unlimited. You can use powders, frit, glass pieces or billets to create a different look and translucency. The mould texture can be accentuated by specific colour placement. You can vary the glass quantity to alter the size and thickness of the final piece. For a full mould you need approx. 1 kg of glass.

Recommended Firing Chart for Casting

Please Read: This firing recommendation has been calculated for use with Bullseye glass. Whereas the most typical casting glasses are frit and billets, you can have great results using sheet glass, stringers, rods as well as prefabricated components. The chart shown below is also based on the assumption that you are using a top fired kiln, e.g. Paragon GL22, GL24, BVD Flat bed kilns etc.

Recommended Firing Chart for Slumping

Please Read: This firing recommendation has been calculated for use with Bullseye Glass of average viscosity with an even thickness of 4 - 6 mm. The chart shown below is also based on the assumption that you are using a top fired kiln, e.g. Paragon GL22, GL24, BVD Flat bed kilns etc. If you are using a side firing kiln you must allow more time in the first ramp.
